About Our Chapter

The National FFA Organization is one of the largest youth organizations in the country, and it’s a cornerstone of agricultural education here at Buffalo Valley. FFA isn’t only for students who want to farm — it’s built around leadership, personal growth, and career success, preparing members for a wide range of paths in agriculture, business, science, and beyond.

Agricultural education is built on three connected parts: classroom and laboratory instruction, hands-on Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, and FFA itself, which brings learning to life through leadership, competition, and service. Together they help students grow into confident, capable young adults.

The FFA Difference

FFA members wear the blue corduroy jacket as a symbol of tradition, belonging, and shared purpose. Through it, students across the country — and right here at Buffalo Valley — connect to a legacy of growing leaders, building agriculture, and strengthening their communities. Whatever a student’s background or future plans, FFA offers a place to grow.

What We Do

Leadership Development

Members build public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills through chapter meetings, officer roles, and Leadership Development Events (LDEs).

Career & Skill Events

Career Development Events (CDEs) let students compete and demonstrate real-world skills in areas like livestock evaluation, agricultural mechanics, and more.

Supervised Ag Experience

Each member develops a hands-on SAE project — raising livestock, running a small enterprise, or exploring an ag career — applying classroom learning in the real world.

Shows & Community Service

From livestock shows to service projects that give back to the Buffalo Valley community, members represent our chapter with pride throughout the year.

Chapter Officers

Our chapter is led by a team of student officers, each elected to a role with real responsibilities. Together, under the guidance of the advisor, they plan activities, run meetings, and represent Buffalo Valley FFA in the school and community.

President

Leads the chapter, presides over meetings, and works with the advisor to guide the chapter’s goals and activities throughout the year.

Vice President

Supports the president, steps in when they are unavailable, and oversees committees and chapter programs of activity.

Secretary

Keeps accurate records of meetings and membership, handles chapter correspondence, and maintains the official minutes.

Treasurer

Manages the chapter’s funds, collects dues, keeps financial records, and reports on the chapter’s financial standing.

Reporter

Shares the chapter’s story — publicizing activities and achievements to the school, community, and news outlets.

Sentinel

Keeps the meeting room ready, welcomes guests, assists the president, and helps maintain order during meetings.

Advisor

A faculty member who guides and supports the officer team and the chapter as a whole, connecting classroom learning with FFA activities and opportunities.

The FFA Creed

The FFA Creed expresses the beliefs and values that guide FFA members. It is recited from memory in Creed Speaking events by beginning members.

I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds – achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years.

I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny.

I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil.

I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so–for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me.

I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.

The FFA Creed was written by E. M. Tiffany and adopted at the 3rd National FFA Convention. It was revised at the 38th and 63rd National FFA Conventions.
